Greetings Plant Lovers, Mystical Creatures and Friends,

This is a dark weekend, with a New Moon, Solar Eclipse, and Equinox. Are you able to see the stars from your place down here on Terra?

We all feel these energies in different ways. Some of us may feel highs or lows in our energy, I tend to bleed near to a New Moon, though sometimes I switch to be closer to full. Some of us may dream more, some feel more sensitive or withdrawn. During eclipses, some of us may feel a change in perspective or another radical shift may take place. I remember the Solar Eclipse during this season in 2017, I was working at the Oregon Eclipse Festival, producing two major installations, I taught like ten times over a week, facilitated a 2 week Permaculture Course before, I was on a super high!… and felt the final sad sense of “now” to initiate separation from my husband of ten years.

This eclipse/equinox I will spend another evening in Temezcal, sweating out my prayers in the sacred womb of the mother. I have loved this opportunity and offering at our home in Ca’Inti each month. It feels like earthly acupuncture treatments. Our little energetic impact to open up the clogged channels, hoping that the flow of energy we create that night will reach someone or someones in need of a boost.

But you know, sometimes, I don’t feel anything when these occurences happen. Sometimes I feel like I should be out doing something witchy, but I am really just out to dinner or scrolling. There is no one way we should be feeling or acting under the light or shadow of the Moon and Sun. Our personal experiences are ours alone, and no one can tell us how to feel at any given time in our lives.

But what I do like to do is understand and watch patterns. This is why I have always used a lunar calendar date book. I just can’t get into things like Asana or other task apps. I like using a pen, I like taking my own notes, and like scribbling and reading. I have used different lunar calendars throughout the years, one of my go-tos was always the We’Moon, a long standing publication from the US. Then last year, I happened to be in Argentine in November and picked up a lunar calendar that was also plant inspired. This year I will be working with one, I was also a creator of, which feels just a little extra special.

The Dark Shroud of Imposter Syndrome:
Dark Moon in Virgo

This Musing was inspired by a request from my student friend... ”hi sweet Renee :)”

Many of us go through years of study and are left feeling like we have no idea what we are doing or where to start. This was the case for me for the first decade of my herbal practice. It feels an appropriate time to talk about this topic with the moon hiding her face in Virgo. That majestic, confident, always tidy with her nails perfectly clean and her outfit flawlessly put together Goddess is sitting in her room, with smelly pajamas worn too many times, in desperate need of a shower on the first day of her period.

… Did I mention she forgot to also brush her teeth last night??? even the dog doesn’t want a kiss.

Yeah, this is Virgo in the Dark. She may look perfect on the outside, but inside she is insecure and can’t get out of bed. She won’t be posting this in her stories.

In this musing I explore only what I can confidently, my own story about my journey with imposter syndrome, learning how to get confident, and how to be gentle with myself. I hope it helps.

And please friends… I can always come up with something to write about,
but I would love to hear what you would like to muse on.
Don’t be shy to write to me.

“This dark moon in Virgo is a good time to talk about the shroud of imposter syndrome that many of us, from time to time wear…

So what happens when Virgo meets the Dark Moon? during an eclipse??It’s shadow time.

All those Virgo feelings of self-confidence get shoved into the dusty, creepy nether regions of the basement. Virgo hates these places, they’d rather be in there with a shop vac and natural cleaner, but when they do look, what they find are the old treasures lost: childhood baubles, hairballs, ancient coins. Memories they might prefer to forget.

Virgo in the dark must call on their inner light. Like the Hermit, they must illuminate from within, not depending on outside validation. Yet when that creeping feeling of unworthiness scratches in the hard-to-reach places, even Virgo can’t always reach. Imposter syndrome is real, and insidious. It is an intrusive feeling, that usually those who are actually really good at what they do feel. The imposter feeling is one of fear of being seen, recognized and honored. It’s the fragility of our ego that swings from pride to shame. It is our inner child, insecure teenage self, who wants so bad to be good, to be unique and special. Afraid that maybe we aren’t...”

I recently made an account with Buy Me a Coffee, while I don’t actually drink much coffee, mate fueled in our family with plenty of garden and tonic teas, this is a platform in which you can send, for lack of a better word tips of various sizes. Your support whenever you feel called is always helpful, welcomed and soooo appreciated. And, regardless of tips or not, my musings and teachings will still come to your inbox and social feed!

Village Witch Regenerative Herbalism Tarot Tales Spiritual EcologyMyth | Magic | Musings Greetings Plant Lovers, Mystical Creatures and Friends, I am in Portugal right now, starting the Herbalists & Alchemists course tomorrow. And how that happens is by imagining it into reality. Seeing yourself there, sharing the plants, making medicine, making magic together. Life is both the serendipity of the moment and the potency of our free will in action. The imagination and the intuition to follow...

Village Witch Regenerative Herbalism Tarot Tales Spiritual EcologyMyth | Magic | Musings Greetings Plant Lovers, Mystical Creatures and Friends, This last weekend was a deeply moving one. At our home in Italy, Ca’Inti, we open up the space not only for fun gatherings with music and pizza, but we also host workshops and ceremonies. This summer we have had four temezcals with our friends who are initiates of the Camino Rojo, we hosted a family of Tz‘utujil Mayans from Guatemala who offered a...

Village Witch Regenerative Herbalism | Tarot Tales Spiritual EcologyMyth | Magic | Musings Greetings Plant Lovers, Mystical Creatures and Friends, Autumn feels like it is already here, with just a lunar cycle to go until the Equinox, I am leaning into the seasonal shift. As we enter into the solar sign of Virgo with the dark of this New Moon, I want to reflect on the energy of it’s Tarot correspondence, The Hermit IX. The Hermit speaks to us in this modern life, in this time of unraveling and...
